Does anyone have a good recipe using pomegranates?
Are Pomegranate Ginger Muffins good?
Ohhh yummy !! Try this!!
Pomegranate Jelly
Ingredients
10 large pomegranates
1 (3 ounces) pouch liquid pectin or 1 box (1-3/4 or 2 ounces) dry pectin
2 Tbsp lemon juice
6 cups sugar
Instructions
To extract juice, cut crowns off pomegranates and score peel of each in several places. Immerse pomegranates, one at a time, in cool water in a large bowl; break into sections and separate seeds. Skim off floating peel and membrane; discard. Drain seeds.
In a 5 to 6-quart kettle on high heat, combine seeds and 1/2 c. water. Cover and cook until seeds are soft when pressed, about 10 minutes.
Set colander lined with cheesecloth in a bowl. Pour in seeds and liquid. Tie cloth closed. Wearing rubber gloves, squeeze bag to extract remaining juice. Measure; you need exactly 4 cups (if amount is short, add water).
If using liquid pectin, combine pomegranate juice, lemon juice and sugar in an 8 to 10-quart kettle; bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Add liquid pectin and bring to a boil that cannot be stirred down. Boil, stirring, for exactly 1 minute.
If using dry pectin, combine pomegranate juice, lemon juice and pectin. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Stir in sugar and bring to a boil that cannot be stirred down; boil, stirring, exactly 2 minutes.
Pour hot jelly to within 1/4-inch of rim of hot, sterilized, 1 or 2-cup canning jars. Wipe rims and put hot lids and rings in place. Set jars on a rack in a deep kettle; add boiling water to cover. Bring to simmering; simmer 10 minutes. Cool jars on a towel for 2 days.
Yield: about 7 cups
Reply:They are if I make them :-)
(In all questions of taste, the only real solution is to taste it.)

Pomegranate bugs. How to prevent the insects from destroying the fruit?
Hey Susan,
Pomegranate like many other fruits can be protected by systemic treatments (Bayer has a good one), that you put down according to the label. The other alternative would be to spray with a fruit tree spray (Ortho makes one called %26#039;Fruit Tree Spray%26#039;). Follow the label instructions. Never spray the flowers. You spray before the flowers or after the flower falls off leaving just the fruit. The site below says : %26quot;...Spray with Sevin or Malathion or insecticidal soap if insects become a problem.%26quot;, which are not very strong and would only be a problem within a couple of days of spraying - a good alternative.
Be sure to read the labels on your chemical applications.

My pomegranate tree I have had for a couple of years but it never bears flowers or fruit. Help!?
It had 2 pomegranates on it when I first had it but none since then. Not even a flower. Any hints?
My pomegranate tree I have had for a couple of years but it never bears flowers or fruit. Help!?
Sometimes it takes years for fruit trees to bear fruit. Make sure the plant is well-watered and cared for. Not too much sun.
Every six weeks, put in some systemic fertiliser that is specific for fruit trees. You can find it at your local nursery.
Reply:The first answer was good. I would just like to advise that they have fruit tree fertilizer spikes which I intend to buy today.

Pomegranate? Healthy Food Choice?
What does it do for your body?
How many calories is it?
Anything else about pomegranates?
Pomegranate? Healthy Food Choice?
Hello!
First of all a pomegrante is a very healthy choice for your body. Any fruit and vegetable is good for your body. A whole pomegranate has a total of 105 calories. A pomegranate is considered an antioxidant. What this means is that it fights free radicals inside your body. Free radicals are agents(chemicals) inside your body, that are made from toxins that enter your body. For example if you second hand smoke, the toxins that go inside your body will create these chemicals called free Radicals.
Once they are inside your body they slowly destroy any nearby tissue. A pomegranate helps kill these free radicals and therefore keeping you healthier and giving you a longer life. A very good choice to go with!

What is the difference between pomegranates and pomegranate juice?I would like to try pomegranate juice, does i
have a bad ,or a good taste to it?
What is the difference between pomegranates and pomegranate juice?I would like to try pomegranate juice, does i
Pomegranite juice originates from Pomegranites... Its quite a pricey option but very delicious. I hope yo like it, as well!
Reply:The juice comes from the pomegranate. It has a little kick to it but it is very good. I like the naked juice line but pom is also good. Try the pomegranate and blueberry it is also very good.
Reply:I%26#039;ve never experienced bitter pomegranate juice. I love the stuff and drink it all the time. Also, I get the juice from middle eastern or Mediterranean grocers, it tends to be better and cheaper than the stuff sold in regular grocery stores (i.e. pom, i think naked or odwalla have one too) or upscale places.
Reply:To me it%26#039;s delicious.
Reply:its bitter. but i like it. pomegranete is a fruit...pomegranate juice is the juice of the fruit........like..oranges and orage juice...
good luck with that one buddy
Reply:Pomegranates are luscious. Pomegranate juice is a mix of the seeds, the pulp, and fake sweeteners--it%26#039;s very bitter and makes some people%26#039;s throats hurt. Or, more simply, pomegranates are great and the juice is crap.

Reply:I%26#039;ve only seen them fresh, and the pomegranate juice. The fruit is primarily liquid, so there wouldn%26#039;t be much left if dehydrated. If frozen, the membrane would burst and you%26#039;d mostly have juice.

How do you eat (and what part of do you eat) a pomegranate?
What part of the pomegranate is edible and how do you get at it without wasting it?
How do you eat (and what part of do you eat) a pomegranate?
Not much, is the short answer. I had a lovely old pomegranate bush covered with fruit, but for casual eating? Nope. The good part is supposed to be that red, juicy covering around the seeds.
Here%26#039;s a quote from the Seasonal Chef: %26quot;You can eat pomegranates out of hand, cracking open the shells, taking whole mouthfuls of the tightly-packed crimson seeds, gently bursting each blister of fruit with your teeth to extract the juice, then spitting out the rest.%26quot;
Frankly, I found that sour and messy as heck!
She has recipes for syrups and other uses.
Reply:you just suck on the seeds and then spit them out. It is a very tasty fruit and a healthy one also.
Reply:cut it open and suck on the seeds- it is the juice around the seeds that is good. the rest, I find, is inedible.
Reply:you slice off the top, then you brake it open.
you can then scoop out the seeds, this is what you eat, either into a bowl a sieve, or just pop the seeds in your mouth.
Reply:cut pomegranate open, the seeds are edible. you can also suck the juice around the seeds hope you enjoy
Reply:You crack it open, there are red juice pods with seeds in the middle. If you crack it open, you will see sections and dividers like in citrus fruit. Eating it in sections helps to stop some of the inevitable mess. Enjoy!
Reply:You eat the red seeds inside. Pomegranate is very good for you, and it is fun to eat too.
Reply:You can cut through the skin and peel it. Then eat all the delicious red seeds!
Reply:If you eat pomegrante you would mostly eat the seeds.
Reply:I cut it in halves in a saucer to catch the juice, which I drink, then scoop the seeds out with a spoon and eat them. A pomegranate consists of dozens of seeds, each of which has a layer of pink juicy flesh round it, all enclosed in a tough dry skin. The whole thing is about as big as an apple.
Reply:you eat the red part and some people say you should spit out the middle of each seed but that just wastes more of the pomegranate and there is nothing wrong with the middle of the seed so just swallow it, its easier that way
Reply:you break the fruit in half, pick out the seeds, and discard the other parts and eat the seeds. watch out, pomegranate juice is hard to get out of clothes.
Reply:After peeling off all the skin you then have the delightful task of picking out the seeds.
Oh so messy but oh so yummy too!
Enjoy!
Reply:Just pick the seeds out and eat it like an apple its good but i am sure ther is many better ways good luck!
Reply:eat the seed juice and then spit the seeds out.
Reply:HEY let me tell u the best way...simply cut the same from middle in two parts and start hitting the half from back with a spoon u will see that seeds will start falling one by one...without wastage.... i found this method from my friend.. good luck with ur pom...

I would like to buy stock in a company that produces pomegranate juice. How can I find one?
Recent studies have shown that pomegranate juice can reduce heart disease, may prevent cancer among other things. I think that the industry will grow tremendously over the next few years.
I would like to buy stock in a company that produces pomegranate juice. How can I find one?
To my knowledge, there is no publicly traded company which mainly sells pomegranate juice. I drink pomegranate juice on occasion made by a private company called POM Wonderful, which is the %26quot;largest grower of pomegranates in the United States%26quot; according to the Company%26#039;s website. I would like to invest in such a company as well. There apparently is none available. You might invest in one of POM Wonderful%26#039;s main distributors or resellers such as...

You may not be able to tap into pomegranate juice more directly than this. One other possibility is to check the futures market and see if you can buy pomegranate futures. This is a more difficult investment and may require much more due diligence on your part. Hope this was helpful.

How can I tell when it is time to pick a pomegranate?
I have a %26quot;wonderful%26quot; pomegranate tree in my yard. The 2 fruits on it right now are the size of a baseball, and a little larger than a hackey sack. They are a nice orange-red color. I don%26#039;t know when to pick, though.
How can I tell when it is time to pick a pomegranate?
Pick them when they start to look leathery. If they are still robust in their growth, meaning still fresh and plump, they aren%26#039;t ready.Once you pick them, they won%26#039;t get any riper,so leave %26#039;em till they start to look a TAD leathery, and deep red in color.

Can you help with this question about prostate cancer and pomegranate juice?
I have a strong family history of prostate cancer (father %26amp; older brother). I am now over 65 and my PSA tests have remained at normal levels I have that test and a rectal exam by a urologist done annually. I%26#039;ve heard recently that pomegranate juice may be of value in treating men wiith prostate cancer whose cancer is still progressing despite radiation and/or hormonal therapy. What I%26#039;d like to know is this:
(1) Is there any evidence that it might help in preventing or delaying onset of the disease? and
(2) Is there any indication it could interfere with early diagnosis by skewing the PSA test?
Can you help with this question about prostate cancer and pomegranate juice?
Yes I have also heard Pomegranate juice is effective to prevent prostrate cancer due to is medicinal values. But it does not cure the disease already set in. Neither it will give any adverse indication in the Prostate specific antigen test conducted. this was confirmed to me by my Oncologist friend.

As for your second question, I wasn%26#039;t able to find any information on this, but I do know that what pomegranate juice is supposed to do is lower your PSA. So I would assume that the PSA test would be accurate... I don%26#039;t know how else they would have confirmed these studies if the juice skewed the results.
Sorry if this isn%26#039;t the help you needed, but this is too good of a question to leave unanswered.

What I%26#039;d like to know is this:

tis a strong anti oxidant maybe one of the best all of the fruit and the juice is good for cancers and also the next maybe blueberries and almonds so eat maybe a handful ten a day and drink green tea and or regular tea and also red grapes and red wine in small amounts
Reply:Pomegranate juice is packed w/ antioxidants and so healthy--over time those antioxidants really do help fight off cancer--but don%26#039;t drink POM because that tests on animals

This is an article worth reading for anyone who needs to be disabused of the belief that the orthodox cancer treatments with toxic chemo-%26quot;therapy%26quot; actually work. Since when is the destruction of one%26#039;s immune system with toxic chemo and radiation therapeutic? And how does cutting out a part of the body solve a %26#039;whole-body%26#039; problem? Something to ponder while reading the article.
The 5-year survival figures, (for orthodox treatment), not to be confused with the successful treatment of the disease, for the major cancers are:
stomach - 5 percent
trachea, bronchus and lung -5 percent
breast -50 percent
oesophagus -5 percent
large intestine - 22 percent
pancreas - 4 percent
liver - 2 percent
According to the government%26#039;s own figures, around 2 percent of chemotherapy recipients are still alive after 5 years: the term %26#039;alive%26#039; is used, here, in its literal sense: i.e. not yet clinically dead.
%26#039;Chemotherapy and radiotherapy will make the ancient method of drilling holes in a patient%26#039;s head, to permit the escape of demons, look relatively advanced...the use of cobalt...effectively closes the door on cure.%26#039;17
The five year survival rates for the different onslaughts are: 11
Surgery - 22 percent
Radiotherapy -12 percent
Surgery/radiotherapy combined - 6 percent
Chemotherapy plus others - 2.5 percent
Chemotherapy alone - 1.6 percent
.none of which has stopped the cancer industry from carrying out the same procedures, day in, day out, for decades: with the same deadly, inevitable results.
%26#039;It is utter nonsense to claim that catching cancer symptoms early enough will increase the patient%26#039;s chances of survival: not one scientist or study has proven that in any way. My studies have proved conclusively that untreated cancer victims live up to four times longer than treated individuals. If one has cancer and opts to do nothing at all, he will live longer and feel better than if he undergoes radiation, chemotherapy or surgery, other than used in immediate life-threatening situation.%26#039;
EAT:
Organically-grown, if possible, fruit, vegetables, peas, beans, rice: chemically-grown carrots are out. Non-organic cabbage, broccoli, sprouts, mushrooms etc. should be boiled for a couple of minutes in salted water, drained and rinsed, then cooked. Lettuce and similar foods which cannot be cleansed with this process or peeled should be home-grown or avoided.
Emphasise raw foods; whole grain breads; soya products: tofu, soymilk, miso.
Eat B17 foods regularly - seeds of apricot, peach, plum, cherry, apple; sprouted alfalfa, mung and wheat seeds; millet, lentils, watercress, lima beans, blackeye beans, broccoli, cabbage, buckwheat, linseed etc. (Hard seeds like peach and apricot should be broken open, and the soft inside eaten)
Garlic is the supreme plant from a physician%26#039;s and a cook%26#039;s point of view: eat it raw, cooked: grow it: use it as a medicine for everything from cancer and tuberculosis to coughs, colds, infections, high blood pressure, whooping cough, chemical/heavy metal/radiation detoxification etc., etc.

Why don%26#039;t you ask your doctor? Most of the men (boys) who answer questions here are too young to even think of prostate cancer! They are more obsessed about sex!
I think this pomegranate juice theory is relatively new, and no real studies have been done. Your best bet is to keep on having the PSA tests regularly. You are at the age where it is very important to do this.
I have no idea whether the juice would interfere with the PSA test or not. Again, ask your doctor. And just because there has been a lot of prostate cancer in your family, doesn%26#039;t guarantee you will get it. Just keep having those tests! If you should get it, treatment is so much better these days than it was years ago.
Good luck!
Reply:Here%26#039;s one definition of pomegranae juice, but there%26#039;s no mention of curing cancer.
Pomegranate Fruit
The exotic red pomenengrante fruit is another exemplification of how fruits and vegetables are incredibly rich sources of healing constituents including antioxidant compounds and pigments. The juice of the pomegrante fruit is exceptionally rich in polyphenol compounds which act as potent antioxidants in the body that intrinsically target the arteries. Recent studies with pomegranante juice have demonstrated that the constitueunts it delivers helped to prevent artierial plaque formation and significantly reduces the oxidation of LDL cholesterol. The latter affect has been attributed to the observation that pomegranante increased the levels of the enzyme paraoxonase, which has been found to break down oxidized cholesterol.

It%26#039;s virtually impossible to not get red on something when eating a pomegranate. It%26#039;s part of the experience. You can totally avoid it by purchasing pure pomegranate juice.
Reply:Why bother with all that mess when you can buy the juice at the store? I usually find it by the bagged salad, not sure why, but it has all the nutrients and none of the red hands!

Why do a couple of skin care companies use pomegranate seed oil as anti aging element in products?
How does pomegranate seed oil help boost the look and feel of your skin? Should I purchase these products containing the oil?
Why do a couple of skin care companies use pomegranate seed oil as anti aging element in products?
Pomegranate Seed Oil is a blend of natural, cold-pressed seed oil. Pomegranate juice has antioxidant properties this the reason some use this ingredient for the antioxidants but on the other hand they have found that the fruit could have important implications for breast cancer treatment and estrogen replacement therapy. So i would stay away from it. I use botanically based products but the company where i buy them from do not include this as an ingredient on their anti aging line they are so careful selecting which would work better and the reason is their vast research experience. until they do not find the perfect ingrdient they do not sell the product. By the way they do not include mineral oil or animal products ... using poducts formulatted with mineral oil, animal prooducts or fragrances which all these ingredients are very harmfull for our skin.. Mineral oil is the 2nd worse thing we could do to our skins health for it is like rubbing car oil on our skin and exposing ourselfes to the sun, animal products come from dead animals and these come from rendering plants these plants pick all dead animal and dead animal parts (from meat houses, etc.) and they put it in a huge pot, squash everything and boils it, what ever comes to the top is the oil other companies use to elaborate thier products, gross I know...the lipstick... ewww... As i said before i use botanically based skin care line called Arbonne (their anti aging line NutriMinC RE9) way much better because they get absorbed and the nutrients inside the products is what helps our skin look and feel healthy...they are not sold in stores, i buy them online at: http://arbonnepuertorico.myarbonne.com ... under shop online and you could even ask for a sample , anyway it is a great way to buy becasue they have this money back guarantee if for some reason there is something you do not like from the products you get your money back guarantee (within 45 days from purchase) so you have nothing to loose, only avoid those lines to get deeper;~) Maybe too much info but i understand you will use it wisely.... Remember always read the ingredients and learn about them...

What's the easiest way to get the seeds out of a pomegranate?
I need some pomegranate seeds to garnish a salad, but last time I tried tackling a pomegranate I ended up mutilating it, squashing a lot of the seeds and dyeing myself bright pink from the elbows down. Help....?
What%26#039;s the easiest way to get the seeds out of a pomegranate?
You cut it into sections and you can peel of the thin skin easily and separate the seeds. Just make sure that you wear clothes you don%26#039;t mind getting dirty.

What should I look for when buying a pomegranate?
I%26#039;m from Ohio, so I%26#039;m more familiar in picking out other fruit and vegetables. I have heard that size doesn%26#039;t neccesarily mean a bountiful pomegranate, but what is it that one looks for?
What should I look for when buying a pomegranate?
First of all it should be big, the size of an orange or a medium size grapefruit. Then, the outside skin should be shiny. This is proof that it is fresh and not overripened. Sometimes they may be cracked on the outside, this is normal and it shows that the fruit is ripe enough. It also allows you to peek and see if anything is wrong with the inside.
Reply:Go for the biggest, heaviest fruit in the bin. Give it a squeeze, and if a cloud of dust rises from the crown, toss it back; it%26#039;s long past its prime. But if the skin feels thin, as if the seeds are ready to burst right through, you%26#039;ve got a good one.
Reply:I LOVE pomegranates! What I usually look for is like, no bruises on the outside (of course that means bruised, mushy seeds). Someone told you right as far as size. I had a pomegranate the size of a grapefruit once, sat down to eat it, %26amp; 1/2 the freakin seeds were mush! No bruises is the main thing that I look for. Oh %26amp; if they are like really REALLY hard, they are obviously dried up %26amp; no good too.

What should I look for when buying a Pomegranate?
I%26#039;m from Ohio, so I%26#039;m more familiar in picking out other fruit and vegetables. I have heard that size doesn%26#039;t neccesarily mean a bountiful pomegranate, but what is it that one looks for?
What should I look for when buying a Pomegranate?
that%26#039;s an easy one: weight!
the heavier the fruit, the plumper and juicier the little red things (jewels?) inside!
yummmmmmm!
Reply:that its not spoiled lol. i actually don%26#039;t know but love the fruit. I do believe that one of the criteria is to make sure most of it is read and that its not too soft or too hard either (like regular fruit), but other then that i really don%26#039;t know

I would like to know how to make a real good pomegranate martini. Anybody have any good tips?
I bought pomegranate juice but was disappointed because when I made the martini, it was so dark in color it almost looked like Coke. When I%26#039;m out..they have a pale pink color and are not too juicy..like I like them. Should I just stick to cranberry juice instead of pomegranate juice? Doesn%26#039;t that make it a Cosmo??
Also, I have triple sec in the house and won%26#039;t be going out to buy the expensive version..please keep that in mind!
I would like to know how to make a real good pomegranate martini. Anybody have any good tips?
A pomegranite cosmo would work well.
1 1/2 oz vodka
3/4 oz triple sec
splash pomegranite juice
Reply:I would use grenadine instead. Grenadine is also pomegranate flavor, and will add a nice sweet taste. (just a splash will do!)
Reply:150g-180g depending on the bread chek on the bag that the bread comes in
hope u find the answer

What would be a good mix with Cranberry&Pomegranate juice?
My father bought this Cranberry with Pomegranate juice to try over the weekend. He tried it and says it%26#039;s way too sweet or something, reminds him of jelly! Is there any good drink to mix with it, like ginger ale or something? Just wondering, any answer appreciated.
What would be a good mix with Cranberry%26amp;Pomegranate juice?
Seltzer water. or just a splash of it for color in sprite. Maybe you can use it to glaze a ham. put it into a yellow cake mix in place of 1/2 the water.
Reply:Sprite
Gingerale
Orange Juice
7 Up
Sparkling water would be a good one
Reply:I like to drink my cranberry juice with club soda. It adds fizz and dilutes it a bit.
Reply:Try Mineral Water I do this all the time with all sorts of fruit juices. Way better for you than a soda.
Reply:Sprite or if you can drink alcohol try some champagne.

Does anybody noe how i can grow a pomegranate tree?
ive been wanting to noe how to plant a pomegranate seed from the seed does any1 noe?
Does anybody noe how i can grow a pomegranate tree?
I dont know about growing from seed. The best way is to get a cutting from another tree and plant it with two buds below the soil (these will sprout roots) and two buds above the soil (these will become brances). This way you know that you are getting a productive variety and you will have fruit much sooner than growing by seed.
Reply:I live in England and I would advise that you grow the absolutely fabulous dwarf pomegranate ---Punica granatum nana. You can obtain the seeds from any decent supplier try Chiltern seeds online.
Sow a seed individually in coffee pots, place in heated propagator and the seeds will germinate in Spring and next year it will flower and each year after that also. It grows Ok in here in north of England so anywhere warmer it should grow twice as fast.
Best of luck

How do I take care of my pomegranate?
I have a pomegranate tree which blloms every year but most of the blooms fall off. What fruit I get never fully matures. What can I do to get good fruit.I have heard several stories about how to take care of it but I need some really good advice.
How do I take care of my pomegranate?
Pomegranate likes fairly long, hot, dry summers for good fruit production and if conditions are not warm or dry enough during the year, this could cause fruit drop. Also, the trees are not so tolerant of wet feet so, if possible, cut back on the irrigation a little--particularly if conditions are not as warm as usual for this time of year. The tree may also benefit from some pruning after fruiting this year to regenerate new fruiting branches for future years.

How do you cut and eat a pomegranate?
Do you just bite into a pomegranate? Or do you cut it in sections and eat the red seed like insides?
How do you cut and eat a pomegranate?
Score the outside rind with a knife, immerse the pomegranate in water over a colander. %26quot;unroll%26quot; the rind from the pomegranate removing the seeds. Rinse them and enjoy!!
Reply:cut and eat the seeds
Reply:IF BITE: (easiest and funnest way is with a pal)
We used to pick them off, bite off chunks of skin (spit it as far as possible, this was sort of like a contest, I hardly ever win, there are bigger monkeys than I), eat as you go. Oh yes, humans do this also.
NO BITE:
....cut open and chew the seeds (Or eat them ,no one will complain). Sections do not always work, the seeds fall out easy, try cutting in half first. Stay outside, use a napkin, they stain. It is more a novelty than anything else.
You can do more work, see below.
OR:
Easy tip to remove the seeds - Cut the pomegranate in half, hold one half over a plate and bash the shell with a wooden spoon. The seeds will come out. No more tedious picking out with a cocktail stick!
OR:
The best way (if you like work) - The pomegranate has a bunch of ridges which go from top to bottom (think longitude). There are usually 4 to 6 ridges. First, cut off the flower then carefully cut on the ridges just enough to get through the rind (about a 1/4 inch). Then carefully pull apart the pomegranate into the sections (4-6). Peel off the papery layer. Turn back the tips of the rind and rip off those pieces of the rind. You should know have a nice little slice that is covered with little arils (juice and seed kernel). Its very pretty and you can you use it to decorate a fruit tray. You can also eat from this slice. Put your teeth on a few arils and wiggle it a little with your teeth so they come off, chew lightly to get out the juice and swallow. You can swallow the seeds. Don%26#039;t chew hard because the seeds are a little bitter.
You can also remove the arils by hand. Hold the pomegranate over a bowl or plate and with your fingers wiggle a few arils so they crack off the rind and let them drop into the bowl. Continue until you have removed all the arils. You can now snack off this bowl. Take a handful and eat them or eat them from a spoon.
Reply:STEP 1: Cut off the flowery end of the pomegranate.
STEP 2: Score into sections.
STEP 3: Place in a bowl of water.
STEP 4: Allow fruit to soak for 5 minutes.
STEP 5: Break the sections of the fruit open in the bowl of water.
STEP 6: Allow the seed kernels to separate from the rind and sink to the bottom.
STEP 7: Discard the rind and drain the kernels.
Reply:Just cut it in half and scrape out the seeds. You eat the seeds inside. I don%26#039;t think you eat the rest. I never have. It%26#039;s been so long since I%26#039;ve had one. You%26#039;ve got me wanting one now. Pomegranates also known as Indian apples are very good and good for you.
Reply:you cut it in half and you put the seeds in your mouth. but you don%26#039;t eat the seeds just drink the juice that surrounds them. it%26#039;s really more trouble than it%26#039;s worth.
Reply:Wow, real technical answers there ^_^ Here in Malaysia I just cut it in half, pull out the seeds by hand, and pop it in my mouth one by one. It%26#039;s more enjoyable that way.
Why do you need to soak it in water? That takes all the fun away. I think pomegranates are meant to be eaten over a long period of time. You know, while on the porch, waiting for the kids to come home on a sunny, windy day. Haha, I%26#039;m talking like I already have children! I%26#039;m just 18 =3
Anyway, the red flesh is edible (duh), but so are the hard seeds, but I don%26#039;t usually eat them. We call it %26quot;buah delima%26quot; here, or %26quot;ruby fruit%26quot;. IMO, people should learn to eat fruits more naturally, straight from the tree even (after washing them, of course). Enjoy your pomegranates! =)

Reply:No, I don%26#039;t, but Henry VIII%26#039;s first wife, Catherine of Aragon, chose the pomegranate as one of her symbols because she was from Spain and it is in her badge. So you might want to check and see if you can find a picture of this on line. Look under Tudors, or heraldic badges.

How do you de seed a pomegranate?
Cut it in half, put the cut side on the palm of your hand, keep your finger tips out of the way and whack the pomegranate with a heavy spoon. The seeds will drop out in your hand.

Reply:The best way is to slice the pomegrante in half and hold half in the palm of your hand with the pips facing down, then open your fingers a bit, and tap the top of the pomegrante on top the pips will then drop through the gaps in yur fingers into a bowl, i learnt this off Jamie Oliver good eh?

Reply:The cleanest way I have found is to cut the pom. in to quarters.
Fill a large bowl with water and seed the pom. under the water.
The seeds will sink and and the white bits will float. Also your hands and clothes will not get any red stain on them.
All you have to do is strain the water and you can eat the yummy fruit.
Reply:You dont!! The fruit is a little like a passion fruit .. you eat it all!!

How do you de seed a pomegranate?
Cut it in half, put the cut side on the palm of your hand, keep your finger tips out of the way and whack the pomegranate with a heavy spoon. The seeds will drop out in your hand.
Reply:Have you got 2 pomegranates? cos youve asked the question twice!
Reply:i just eat the seeds then you get a tree growing out of your bottom lol
Reply:The best way is to slice the pomegrante in half and hold half in the palm of your hand with the pips facing down, then open your fingers a bit, and tap the top of the pomegrante on top the pips will then drop through the gaps in yur fingers into a bowl, i learnt this off Jamie Oliver good eh?
Reply:um...the seeds are the part you eat. why are you getting rid of them?
Reply:why do you need to de seed. the seeds are what you eat.
Reply:Just cut it in half (sideways on!) then hold it %26#039;face down%26#039; and whack it with the back of a soup ladle or something similar.

Whatisthe best way to eat a pomegranate?
I have bought my first pomegranate fruit and iam not sure how to
juice it or eat it ,is the whole fruit edible? what can i do with the seeds?i have always bought the pom juice. HELP!
jemmab.
Whatisthe best way to eat a pomegranate?
Well the best way I find to get the seeds and pulp out, which is what you eat like a passion fruit, is cut it in half across the width of it, turn it upside down and tap it really hard with a wooden spoon collecting the seeds in the bowl. Don%26#039;t eat the white stuff or skin its bitter. And they use to be called the apple of love,
Reply:the seeds are edible and that%26#039;s it. They are very good.
Reply:You lucky, lucky person.
Peal it, and break it apart. the little juicy bits are edible - seeds and all. The skin, white pyth and semi-transparent stuff surrounding the juicy bits should be discarded.
Reply:with your mouth
Reply:Peel, extract seeds, eat meat, enjoy.
Reply:Cut it into quarters and just bite into it, you might need to spit out the white skin around the seeds, but the seeds themselves are edible. For juicing, remove the white, and juice in the usual manner

How do you pick a good pomegranate?
I bought 2 from the store last week and when I cut into them, all the fruit was brown and rotten. How do you know which pomegranate to pick at the grocery store?
How do you pick a good pomegranate?
i get mine straight off the trees, but some advice is make sure the skins smooth and shiny and firm. if the pomegranate is soft to the touch dont buy it as it will be mushy inside. try and give a tug on the skin (from the stem area). it should be tough and hard to pull as its leathery. inside you should find hard delicious seed like bits and they are fantastic, but stain clothes horribly
Reply:If it has a bumpy surface it is overripe. Try to find smooth red ones. check the flower end of it too. If the flower end is droopy rather than open like a star shape this can mean it%26#039;s too ripe also.
Reply:open them, or live with it
Reply:the purple ones
Reply:Make sure the skin looks smooth and not wrinkled. Pick one that is firm and not mushy. Also pay attention to the stem to make sure that it looks good. I love those things!

How do you eat a pomegranate?
bought one...tried to eat it...it was a mess...is it supposed to be like that or do you eat it another way? how do YOU eat a pomegranate?
ps- %26quot;look it up on Google%26quot; is not a valid answer. neither is %26quot;why do you want to know%26quot; or %26quot;asdasdafaf%26quot;. please don%26#039;t give answers like these or I WILL HAVE TO REPORT YOU!!!!
How do you eat a pomegranate?
Pomegranate juice can be used to make gelatin desserts, sauces and dressing, while the seeds can be used as a garnish or eaten alone. There is no right way to get at the juicy insides of a pomegranate, but these suggestions should help.
Instructions
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Extract the Seeds
Things You%26#039;ll Need
Cheesecloth Strainers
Pomegranates
Blenders
Food Processors
Knife
Nut Picks
Steps
1Step OneCut off the flowery end of the pomegranate.
2Step TwoScore into sections.
3Step ThreePlace in a bowl of water.
4Step FourAllow fruit to soak for 5 minutes.
5Step FiveBreak the sections of the fruit open in the bowl of water.
6Step SixAllow the seed kernels to separate from the rind and sink to the bottom.
7Step SevenDiscard the rind and drain the kernels.
Tips %26amp; Warnings
A less formal way to enjoy the pomegranate raw is to just break or cut the fruit open and extract the kernels with your fingers or a nut pick.
The seeds inside the kernels may be eaten.
Extracting the Juice
Steps
1Step OnePress the fruit against a countertop.
2Step TwoRoll it back and forth to break open the kernels and release the juice.
3Step ThreePuncture or cut the pomegranate to squeeze the juice out.
Tips %26amp; Warnings
Another method is to blend seeds in a blender or food processor, and drain the juice through cheesecloth.
Reply:cut the fruit in half from top to bottom (vs. side to side), flip it over and gently %26quot;thwack%26quot; it with a blunt object - ie the back of a spoon or the backside of the knife you used to cut it. You should probably do it over a bowl or a paper towel as the juice is quite problematic to remove from pretty much everything! Thats the clean way....
if you like to make a mess then just cut it into as many pieces as you like and start picking the seeds...enjoy the week long red lips and fingers afterwards....
Reply:I grew up eating this fruit...I ate one earlier today...look you cut it in 4 quarters. You can%26#039;t bite in it like an apple....you pick the seeds with your teeth a few at a time and they just pop in your mouth!
Make sure you have a lot of paper towels.
Edit: Italian has a great procedure but if you just want to cut to the chase...take my advice and cut it in fours and enjoy! Half the fun is making a mess..teeheee.
Reply:From printout at supermarket...Cut item in quarter sections
Fill bowl with water and place sections in water...
See seed things? Those are what you eat...red and seed...All the rest is nonedible....
So says the directions...
Reply:We never cut our pomegranate...we peel. Peel the tough outer skin until you see the juicy, jeweled bead seeds. Pop the seeds in your mouth and lightly chew the outer moistness off...don%26#039;t eat the seeds. You spit the seeds out and leave them everywhere. You can keep picking away at this obnoxious fruit until you can rip big segments off and shove lots of little beads into your mouth and spit more seeds everywhere...it%26#039;s an endless task. I guess it%26#039;s worth it because pomegranates are full of antitoxins.

How do you open a pomegranate? I don%26#039;t want to get juice all over me! Please help me!
How do you open a pomegranate??
Make a small cut in it and then start peeling it like an orange lol ... that%26#039;s what I do. Then peel out all the seeds into a bowl and Enjoy! I add lime juice to the seeds ... it make it taste really good! :)
To make sure that nothing gets on you just wear an apron usually nothing like that happens ... well not to me i make sure i peel it carefully lol
Hope that Helps!
Good Luck!
Happy Eatings!
Reply:You just cut it in half and wear dark clothings, so if it stains, it would camouflage

You know like through the middle. Not lengthwise but through the circumfrance.
When you cut an apple to make a star in it , you have to cut a pomegrante that same way.
Reply:The first answer is completely right and the ONLY way to do it.
Reply:Simply cut it in half or quarters like an apple then peel the skin back.
Reply:I%26#039;d suggest you de-seed it into a bowl before you sit down %26amp; enjoy it. This way when you%26#039;re done, you can immediately clean the stains off your fingers so they won%26#039;t be there for days to come.

How to properly eat a pomegranate?
I bought a pomegranate out of curiosity, and the signs tell you how to eat them. It says to eat the fruit around the seed, but not the seed. I was wondering how that is possible?
How to properly eat a pomegranate?
I don%26#039;t know if there is a proper way to eat it, but i have always just eaten the whole juice and seed, but never eat the out side peeling cut the whole fruit in half and just eat the inside seeds. almost like a sunflower seed. Some eat the whole seed and shell and some crack it open and just eat the inside. Or you could just put it in a cloth and make juice by squeezing the juice from the seeds
Reply:you only eat the juice pockets in the seeds.
Reply:one of the messiest fruits there is....good luck, have plenty of towels handy
Reply:Hell I eat the seed and all. It would be a pain in the *** to just eat the fruit around the seed unless you suck away the fruit and spit the seed.
Reply:Eat the seeds. They are great but putzy to eat. You eat the whole seed it is easy to chew and even my youngest child loves them. I can%26#039;t even imagine someone trying to separate the seed.
Reply:break it open, then in a deep bowl of water start to gently remove the seeds. Leave them in the water as you work them all out, throw the shell chunks away. Have lots of paper towels handy! It will look like a murder scene when you get done, but it%26#039;s yummy!
Reply:It isn%26#039;t. Just eat it. Its good and it won%26#039;t hurt you. Cut it in half and scoop out the little red balls.

Reply:throw a bunch of seed in your mouth and chew but not to the pit. Then spit out the seeds. I love them really since I was a kid. We also called them chinese apples.
Reply:just take one of the pulp things from the inside and put it in your mouth, basically you just lightly squeeze the juice out or pop the juice out and spit the rest out. there isnt much you can eat from the pomegranate but make sure the juice doesnt get on white clothing cause it can stain
Reply:I eat the seed. They get stuck in your teeth though sometimes.
I peel away the white spongy flesh and eat the red things that are clustered on the inside.

How can I keep the Pomegranate fruit from cracking early?
I know that Pomegranate husks crack normally in order to spread the seeds around, but my young tree seems to be having difficulty letting them ripen first. I went out today and found that half of the husks were split wide open and dropping seeds. The problem is that every single one of them seems to be still half unripe and the premature seeds are bitter and no good for anything. I keep it decently watered so the seeds will be plump inside, but is there something else I can do to keep it from ruining half of its crop?
How can I keep the Pomegranate fruit from cracking early?
I would try mulching so you have more consistent soil water availability.
Most of my experience with pomegranates has been in greenhouse situations, and they did ok there -- which may also mean you have a cultivar more prone to splitting -- much like some tomato cultivars have a greater tendency to stress cracks.

How do I make a pomegranate margarita martini?
My wife had a pomegranate margarita martini at Olive Garden and I cannot find a recipe anywhere. I need to find one so that we can eat somewhere besides Olive Garden.
How do I make a pomegranate margarita martini?
This must be the 8th time this week I%26#039;ve given this one out-lol
Here you go:
1 1/2 cups pomegranate juice
2 oz lemon vodka (or plain)
squeeze of lime juice
1 oz. Tequila
1 cup ice
Shake or stir until blended. Dip rim of glass in lime juice and roll in sugar. Drop some pomegranate seeds in bottom of glass for colour or just leave it out. The drink is just as great either way.
Cheers!
Reply:you are all wrong. i was at olive garden last night and had this drink. it is the bomb! anyway - it IS called a MARGARITA MARTINI. And you can find the ingredients on the olive garden website. they are Silver Patron, Citronge Orange Liquor, pomegranate syrup %26amp; lemon %26amp; lime wedges. Report It
Reply:I too had a pomegranate margarita martini at the Olive Garden and loved it. However, I have to disagree with msnorhe. The Olive Garden ingredients calls for: Patron Tequila, Pomegranate juice, and fresh citrus juice. But, I do not know the quantity of each. It also calls for 1 lemon wedge, 1 lime wedge and 1 orange wedge. Their is no mention of vodka. Furthermore, I tried the recipe msnorthe wrote and it did not taste like the Olive Garden Martini.
I think that next time I go to Olive Garden I%26#039;ll sit at the bar and watch the bartender make my Pomegranate Margarita Martini.

How do you eat a pomegranate??
Like what parts should you eat and stuff. . .the regular pomegranate fruit
How do you eat a pomegranate??
Get a medium sized bowl (deep enough to hold your pomegranate) and fill it part way full of water. Next, use a knife and score the pomegranate along the natural lines of the fruit (they are vaguely hexagonal or something like that) so that it will be easier to pull apart. Soak the pom for a few minutes then, with the pom still in the water, break the pom apart using the scores you made earlier. Basically, you want to separate all those gorgeous little gems from the bitter pith that surrounds them. Luckily, you have density on your side. The pith isn%26#039;t very dense and as you break the fruit apart the pith should start to float to the surface. Pick out the big pieces of peel and pith and toss them and then use a strainer to strain out the little pieces of pith.
Kind of a lot of work, but they are totally worth it. The sad thing, though, is that the biggest pomegranate producer in the US (POM) conducts brutal animal tests in order to promote the health benefits of pomegranates. So, I%26#039;m not buying that brand for now. Otherwise - best fruit ever!
Reply:You can eat the seeds inside the pomegrante but the have to be a red color not pink, pink means it%26#039;s not ripe.
Reply:~cut it open
~pick out the seeds carefully without breaking them: they squirt and stain...
~set them in cold water to keep them fresh and crispy
~eat the stuff AROUND the seeds like one by one
~spit the seeds out.....
Reply:you eat the seeds, but you want the juice only. Chew it well and spit out. Make sure you wear an apron because it will stain so bad.
Reply:cut the skin and break in half, pull out the seeds, then eat the seeds. You can eat the whole seed, you can also spit them out after you suck off the juice if you don%26#039;t enjoy them. If the seeds are mushy, it%26#039;s overripe and I wouldn%26#039;t eat them if I were you, they should be ruby red and sometimes a few of them are clear, that%26#039;s O.K.Oh and after you buy keep refrigerated for longer shelf life.
Enjoy
Reply:Tricky eating indeed, what with all that seed, skin, and pith. If you%26#039;ve got an old fashioned citrus juicer you can make pomegranate juice in a jiffy. That way you dodge the whole seeds = days in hell problem. Seriously, In Greek Mythology the daughter of Demeter, Persephone, was forced to stay in the underworld with Hades for 1/2 of the year (six months) because she ate six pomegranate seeds. Stick with the juice/
Reply:don%26#039;t eat the peal its quit bitter their is this thin yellow stuff inside the fruit its eadable but bitter the best part of a pomegranate are the red rubies if you want too you can eat the seeds too bot if not then suck on the rubies and spit the seeds out
Reply:I used spoon. I cut it into two %26#039;half%26#039;.
The red seeds have red juice in it.Squeeze it and press it inside your mouth. The seeds without juice will be spitted out.
Reply:Hold it with both hands inside a deep, shallow bowl. Break it open and pull out all of the seeds, then strain them and eat/drink the goods. If you buy one at Walmart, they have one of those little recipe cards with them that show you how to eat them. They are difficult, but yummy.
Reply:they are full of seeds, with shiny red jell kind of stuff in between the seeds.
You break them opn and eat the seeds and the jell stuff.
They%26#039;re sort of sweet/sour.
Reply:Don%26#039;t know
Reply:You eat the all the seeds inside the fruit. You use a knife to cut it in half. and then use a fork if you wish or just eat everything inside of it is ok. Someone in my family just had one tonight! Just don%26#039;t eat the outside of it. The crust part I guess its called! And Enjoy!
Reply:You can buy the seeds already taken out of the fruit at the supermarket and avoid the hassle. Very convenient and tasty.

Enjoy

Reply:I know you can eat the seeds which I get out by cutting the pomegranate in half and then putting the cut side in the palm of my hand and then hitting the back with a spoon! The seeds will just fall out! I have heard that you can eat the yellow filling....but I have never tried it! I don%26#039;t know the history either. Sorry, hope this helps!
Reply:you put it in your mouth , you chew, and swallow, then you can say how smart u r
Reply:i use a needle to pick the seeds out
Reply:Its a lot of work. But you have to cut it up in fourths, then you have to like scoop out the berry parts. And yes, there is supposed to be little yellow tips @ the end of the berry. I ♥ pomegranates! MmMmMmMm!! You just eat the berries with ur fingers or with a spoon. They%26#039;re really good with whipped cream, or on a parfait, or on waffles with blueberries and bananas. Or just eat %26#039;em plain! They%26#039;re always good!

I%26#039;m looking for 100% pomegranate juice not mixed with any other juice?
POM
or juice your own
Reply:Try POM I%26#039;m pretty sure it%26#039;s pure...
Reply:If you r in the UK, you can get it from Tesco. 200 or 250ml bottle.
Reply:I know someone who found it at Costco.
Reply:Pom Wonderful is sold in most supermarkets. I found it in the produce section.. But the best is by Perfect Puree. They can tell you were to get in your area
Reply:here are a few sites
Reply:POM...there are other brands but POM is the most popular. You can find it at your local grocery store. If they don%26#039;t have it then check another one. I am sure a grocery store around you has it.
Reply:Yes.
Mostly in any store that sells Middle Eastern/Near Eastern Foods.
It%26#039;s condensed so it%26#039;s like a light syrup (dark colored)
Also it%26#039;s in a wine-bottle-like container. It contains nothing BUT promagrante juice.
You mix 1/4 a cup of the Promegranate syrup with 3/4 of the cup of water. It%26#039;s naturally sweet but if you want you can add sugar. Also you can substitute water for milk if you want the calcium; or any other juice (orange..fruit..)
You can also get it online.. I%26#039;m going to search for it and post it as soon as i can
Reply:Trader Joes has it and it%26#039;s cheaper than the POM brand.
Reply:POM brand juice is 100%. I am not sure of your location, but It is available at Jewel Foods, Whole Foods and probably also at any health Food oriented foodstore in your area.
Reply:I buy it at United supermarkets, a 64 oz container of 100% pure pomegranate juice is $9.99, which is a much better deal than the little 16 oz bottles by POM that they sell for about $4.99.
(just went and got the bottle)
All Natural Frutmost 100% genuine pomegranate juice
Put out by Fresherized Fooods out of Keller, TX. They have a website at frutmost.com, you could probably email them from there (or call) and see if they distribute it in your area. :)
Reply:if i were u i would try POM because it is 100% juice, it is so good too. if you don%26#039;t like that you could always contact a nutritionist and see if they have any other suggestions. but if all else fails you can try Naked Juice which is almost 100% juice and it is really delicious.
